Haltemprice Leisure centre has a 25m main pool and a learner pool which provide a wide range of activities and sessions to suit all ages and abilities. The village style changing rooms are set out with disabled, family, group and individual changing rooms.
Both swimming pools and the changing rooms are closed as part of stage 2 of the Haltemprice Leisure Centre redevelopment. The nearest swimming pools to Haltemprice are at Beverley Leisure Complex, Goole Leisure Centre and South Holderness Sports Centre.
Both swimming pools and the changing facilties will be totally refurbished. This will include new heating, lighting and ventilation, showers and toilets, all retiled throughout and brought up to modern standards. However, the biggest impact will be the addition of a moveable floor in the main pool that will allow us to complete re-vamp the swimming programme.
What does a moveable floor do?
As part of the redevelopment a movabe floor is being installed in the deep end of the main pool, this will allow us to adjust the dept of the deep end from 2 meters up to the water surface.
In essence, this allows us to set the depth of the pool allowing us the potential of two shallow ends. This would allow for an increase in the number of swimming lessons we can teach at any one time or, alternatively, have an aqua aerobics class taking place in the ‘old’ deep end meaning customers still have full use of the shallow end of the pool.
