What's Next?

This Summer we are being bold once again, it must be the sun! We will start slowly on Wednesday 4th August with an indoor climbing session at Rock City (10am-12noon). Thursday 5th we disappear to Brimham Rocks to put theory into practice outside. Friday 6th August we are on our travels again this time hillwalking on Kinder Scout, visiting Kinder Gates and Kinder Downfall on route - you will be guarenteed to get wet, dirty and tired on this one!

Monday 23rd August we go to Manchester Butress at Stannage Edge climbing and abseiling. (Many of the photos on this page are from previous trips to Stannage). Tuesday 24 and Wednesday 25th will see us in the Lake District walking up and around Bow Fell and Great Gable, whilst camping in Borrowdale. This will be guarenteed to be a good 2 days and your cooking skills will definitely improve, that or you will go hungry!!

If you require more info about these activities then please either email me, link at the bottom of the page (see Future Trips), or speak to the reception on 01482 652501 option 3 option 1. They will be happy to help or book you on an activity.

In August 2007 Haltemprice Leisure Centre gainned its AALA licence. Our Registration Number is L6790/R1630. This licence means that we can provide specified adventure activities to young people under the age of 18 years in accordance to the Activity Centres (Young Persons' Safety) Act 1995 and the Adventure Activities Licensing Regulations 2004.

Parent Information

Below is a link to a document that you can down load. In this document is most of the information that you might wish to know prior to attending an activity. The contents are not exhaustive and prior to any activity there is a briefing for parents and children where all the points are discussed.

Being part of the ERYC we have made the concious decision to follow the protocols laid down by the authority for activities out of school. To this end there are also clearance forms that need to be completed by the parent/guardian of the young person prior to us being able to take the Young Person 'out on the hill'.

Our Last Trip

28th March; walking from Edale Station to Kinder Gates and Kinder Downfall. Not for the faint hearted this one as it was raining and snow was on the ground. Due to conditions it was cut short. Watch out for testiments of those that were there!

Going Up Grindsbrook Clough, note the snow and water levels!

31st March; Walk from Malham, via Malham Cove and back down Goredale Scar, both waterfalls were in full force adding to the fun factor of the down climb. The retun walk was shortened due to time, so a forced march back to Malham was called for. Good weather on this trip which was a suprise. Photos and testiments of those that were there are to follow.

Walk

August 2009 saw us in the Lake District. We were away for 2 days, camping overnight in the National Trust Great Langdale campsite. The first day saw us up on Crinckle Crags, until an enormous electrical storm saw us beat a hasty retreat down the band and to the safety of our tents. All the young people cooked their own food before tucking up for a good nights sleep. Day 2 saw us leave the campsite and head to Grasmere (the home of Ginger bread). The weather had not improved so after a quick walk (sorry cannot remember the name of the hill) before decending, wet and tired to the mini bus. A quick trip to the shops and loos then saw us return to Haltemprice. All much wiser for the experience!

The Future

In the near future (August 2010 hopefully) we will become a home to 10 Kayak Canoes and maybe a couple of canadian type canoes. This after the ERYC were asked to remove them from Allerthorpe Lakes. This will mean that we will soon be able to provide instruction on the use of these vessels in our pool (you will be behind me in the queue for this one) before going out and paddling in the wilds of the Pocklington Canal and the Derwent. (Well we like to keep things simple to start)!

Watch out for more development on this one.

We are always on the lookout for other places to go so if you have an idea then let us know. We will, be looking for areas to go for 2 days so distance should not be too much of a problem (think Wales and the Lake District not Scotland). Again we might not do your suggestion immediately but we will look to achieve your aim for you
