Positive about disabled people

At East Riding Leisure we pride ourselves on providing a top class leisure experience to all, both online and in person. With this in mind we have various facilities and services in place for users with disabilities, to ensure they receive the same level of enjoyment from our facilities as everybody else.

There are many facilities available throughout the whole of the building, as well as some more specific to certain activities. If you feel that you will need assistance on your visit to the leisure complex, we will only be too happy to help. Please call Reception prior to your visit to make arrangements for someone to meet you on arrival.

Parking for blue badge holders

The leisure centre has free parking on site and there are 6 disabled parking bays. Please ensure you display your blue badge.

There is a sloped access from the car park up to a rear entrance which is available for customers with limited mobility.  Please ring the bell and a member of staff will open the door for you.

Public Transport

East Yorkshire Bus No. 154 stops outside the Leisure Centre. For a timetable and more information visit their website www.eyms.co.uk

Main entrance and reception

There are automatic opening doors at the main entrance and ground floor level.

The reception desk is low level.

Carers

Carers are admitted free if they are helping a disabled person take part in an activity.

Assistance dogs are welcome; please notify Reception prior to arrival where possible. A dog drinking station is available on request.

Customers with limited mobility and wheelchair users

Haltemprice Leisure Centre has facilities on two levels with a lift to the first floor located in reception. 

The pool, sports hall, projectile hall, squash courts, Tone Zone fitness suite resistance room and pool viewing area are all located on the ground floor.

The sports hall and squash viewing areas, cafeteria, Tone Zone cardio vascular room, conference meeting room and creche are located on the first floor.

There is no need to book swimming, but we do reccomend if you require help in and out of the pool to ring ahead of your visit.  A pool hoist is available and assistance in and out of the pool is available if required.

Other changing/toilet facilities

There are accessible / adapted toilet facilities in the following areas – wet changing area with a couch and toilet facility, near dryside changing area there is a toilet and shower facility.  The couch can be moved from the wetside changing area as required, please contact reception.  There is no hoist facility in these areas. 

Emergency call systems are available in toilets.

There are accessible showers for customers with disabilities located in both the wetside and dryside changing areas.  A wheelchair is also available.

Facilities for customers with very young children

Four family changing cubicles and baby changing facilities are available in our pool changing rooms.

Haltemprice Leisure Centre also operates a crèche facility Monday to Friday 9:00am - 12:00pm.

Clubs for disabled customers

Haltemprice Leisure Centre has a number of activities and clubs abd has recently started a disability  climbing group and sub-aqua group, soon to be added will be a cycling group. For further information on times and availablity please contact reception.
